Why explore healthy masculinity at work?

Imagine a workplace culture of thriving wellbeing where everyone, regardless of gender, age, experience, cultural background feels respected, valued, supported, celebrated and safe. A culture that everyone on your team is excited to be part of.

In many workplaces, men don’t include themselves in diversity, equity, inclusion and wellbeing initiatives. Toxic Masculinity is often mentioned as a problem to overcome but seldom are there opportunities to examine how culture influences men’s wellbeing and behaviour as well as considering healthier, more positive ways that men can contribute.

It was a fantastic talk. I could tell how engaged my staff were, and I’m excited for the healthy conversation to be on-going within our business. There has already been a shift in the way my senior guys are now talking to one another and their staff.

‘Healthy Masculinities at Work’ - Keynote Presentation

Never before have we been so ready for conversations about manhood, but despite this groundswell of enthusiasm, we still lack places where men feel safe enough to explore these topics with the type of real openness and honesty that leads to tangible change.

‘Healthy Masculinities at Work’ is an opportunity for your team to learn how masculinity shapes mens’ behaviour and wellbeing; how it plays out within your organisation; why it is so difficult to change; some key guideposts for building a healthy culture at work; and how we can all (from senior leaders down to new staff) contribute to a healthy culture where men are happy and healthy and women feel respected and celebrated.

This is an enlightening, engaging and inspiring 60-90 minute presentation for everyone on your team (regardless of gender) so that we can all be on the same page in being part of the solution. The content is flexible and is adapted to your organisation’s values and needs.

It can also be presented as a more interactive workshop for a smaller groups or leadership teams willing to take the conversation deeper and lead the change.

Whether your DEI committee is looking for a speaker for International Men’s Day or your wellbeing team needs an event for Men’s Health Week, or maybe even your leadership team wants to do some learning and development around accountability and equity, this presentation will inspire your team to take action.

Better Conversations at Work

Following a ‘Healthy Masculinities presentation, there is often a key group of champions for change who are keen to continue the conversation and drive sustainable change.

This 12 week program provides a clear framework for leading honest conversations in the workplace and is a rare opportunity for people of all genders to come together to explore the difficulties before collaborating together on solutions.

6 x 2 hour workshops spread over 12 weeks explore: ‘lone wolf syndrome’ as the linchpin of toxic masculinity; 3 dimensions of human connection and how to create a connected workplace; getting better at asking RUOK; honesty, vulnerability and emotional professionalism; supportive accountability; and sustainable impact.

Leadership Retreats

For organisations willing to dive more deeply into the courageous work of redefining their culture, we offer a weekend retreat for a group of leaders of all genders that will literally change lives.

It’s a carefully facilitated space for honest conversations so that your team can do the courageous work of exploring the challenges that people of all genders face at work; a visoon for a values aligned workplace; the obstacles that could get in the way; the human skills required to create tangible change.

If taking your whole team on a retreat is not possible, the easier option is to sign up a few of your men for the Good Blokes retreat.

This training has completely changed my perspective on organisational leadership, coaching and mentoring from focussing only on work related aspects towards understanding the whole person.

Mike presented to room full of Worley and Woodside team members for an International Men’s Day event, with 100’s more joining remotely online. A natural presenter, Mike had the audience enthralled, learning how to better connect with the men in their lives. I’d gladly recommend Mike for any corporate event or function, his passion and understanding of men’s issues is second to none.

The team really enjoyed the talk. I had one manager tell me it was timely for him as he needs to check himself and his communication as he knows he is getting edgy. I’ve spoken to about 10 people and all provided positive commentary. I’ve also had 6 direct emails thanking me for the session, noting it was ‘useful’, it was ‘timely’ and it was ‘amazing’. Thanks again.
